One of the Berlin Phil's projects, captured in the film "Rhythm Is It!" involves 200 teens dancing to The Rite of Spring. What if we commissioned a new piece with the specific intent of having a large group dance to it? It might not be a social dance piece per se (or might it?) but a group could spend time creating and rehearsing movement and then performing it together. It could involve a mix of dancers and non-dancers..we could even experiment with smaller ensembles before arriving at the orchestral version. Either way it would necessitate performing in an unorthodox space in an unorthodox way.
The notion is: what's a joint artistic project we could do with our community that would be exciting and challenging for us both?
